A subdomain is part of a web address which is under the main domain, for instance name.example.com. From a technical perspective, even in www.example.com the "www" element is a subdomain because the fully qualified domain name is only "example.com". Every subdomain can have its own site and records and can even be hosted using a different company if you need to use a certain feature that isn't provided by your current provider. A good example for using a subdomain is if you have a company website and an online store under a subdomain where customers can purchase your products. In addition, you can have a forum where they can talk about the products and by employing subdomains as an alternative to subfolders you are going to avoid any chance of all sites going down if you perform maintenance, or update one of the website scripts. Keeping the sites separated is also more secure in the event of a script security breach.

Subdomains in Web Hosting

Our web hosting packages will permit you to set up countless subdomains for any domain address hosted inside your account without any hassle. As long as the main domain address is added, it takes two mouse clicks to set up a subdomain and pick what folder it will open (if different from the default one), create unique error pages, activate FrontPage Extensions, set a shared IP address or a dedicated one, and a lot more. All subdomains will be conveniently listed in alphabetical order under their main domain for easy access and administration. By right-clicking on any one of them and by using instant access buttons you can see the error logs, visitor statistics or site files for that specific subdomain. We haven't set a restriction for the total amount of subdomains which you can create with any of our plans, so you can have as many as you want.

Subdomains in Semi-dedicated Hosting

If you buy a semi-dedicated server plan, you're going to be able to create as many subdomains as you would like because this feature is unrestricted. Considering that the website hosting plans are very powerful, we've decided not to set any restriction on the number of subdomains. Our state-of-the-art Hepsia Control Panel will allow you to create a new subdomain with no more than a couple of mouse clicks, to pick which folder it'll access inside the account, to enable FrontPage Extensions for it, to set up custom error pages, to set a shared or a dedicated IP address if you have one, and many more. For your convenience, all of the subdomains will be listed under their root domain, so that you can very easily see and handle them. Through fast access links, you'll also be able to open the website files for each of the subdomains that you have or check out its DNS records.
